Great microphone for great price, September 16, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: MXL V87 Low-Noise Condenser Microphone (Electronics) I'm making sort of home studio right now and I chose this mic for very good parameters and reasonable price for this kind of mic. Very solid and rich response for vocals and acoustic guitar - those are two I've tried sofar. The shockmount and pop-filter are very good as well. I am completely satisfied!

I record hip hop and R&B. This isn't my first mic, so I want everyone to understand I have at least five years experience as a engineer and over 2 decades as an underground artist.
I've used all kinds of different mics and this one so far is my favorite. I've used the AT 4040 (wasn't mine, but a great mic), AT 2020 (pretty good mic), Sterling Audio ST55 (okay mic) and the MXL V67G Gold Large Capsule Condenser (okay mic).
I've laid hundreds of tracks with other mics but after I purchased the MXL V87 I can honestly say this mic is everything I need it to be and more. It gives a warmth to the vocals that I wanted. It comes with shock mount and its own pop filter as well. Makes a great deal package.
I want to compare it to the mic I was previously using; the audio ST55. I loved that mic because my vocals were great, the downside of that mic was there was a humming sound... Read more

Good sounding mic, February 15, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: MXL V87 Low-Noise Condenser Microphone (Electronics) I just got this fella to do some basic sound recording(voice-over, sound effects, instruments, for various media projects) and it works great for that. It's not your top of the line studio mic, but for most Foley work or instrumentation it does the job, and does it well. I'm definitely satisfied
